Knowing Ourselves

Year 3 of Speech and Debate!

Chloe and Asher are becoming more comfortable with their personal styles of speaking. They choose topics to research that are meaningful to them and relatable to others. They continue to practice putting the feedback from others to good use and improve their delivery, content, and expression after each tournament.

If you live in the Honolulu area and are over 18, we would love if you came out to judge a tournament! Click here and choose “Region 1” from the dropdown for future dates and opportunities.

Chloe Bryant

Chloe joined NCFCA Honolulu when she was 12 years old. She is now 15 and has competed in three tournament seasons including Regionals and Nationals. Her strengths are in the interpretive speech cateogries which allow her to utilize her acting skills. This year she took on Persuasive and Apologetics as well, and even tried her hand at creating an original script. She hopes to earn a spot to Nationals this June.

“After being in spech and debate for three years, I want. tobe able to talk about things I was passionate about. For example, my persuasive speech this year was about body insecurity. It’s an issue I’ve struggled with myself and I wanted to give words of encouragement to others as I compiled research and worked on better delivery each tournament.  “

This year, Asher tackled apologetics and an information speech about a topic near and dear. tohis heart: procrastination.

“My speech skills have grown in the past year and is still growing. I’ve become more accustomed to looking devilishly good in a suit, so I must deliver what my audience needs: laughs and a good time.”
